The Great Fence of Florida December 24, 2007

The Great Wall of China doesn’t have much on the The Great Fence of Florida! On a very long stretch of I-10 there is an amazing 8 foot high fence on both sides of the freeway. It runs for miles and miles and miles from somewhere east of Pensacola to Tallahassee (not sure if it goes on after that). It goes right up to the overpasses and turns and runs down the onramps and beyond. It was one of the most impressive freeway things I have ever seen. During those nearly 200 miles of fence, we saw only 1 dead deer and less than a handful of other poor squashed creatures. This fence, thankfully, is putting the northern Florida road kill zoo out of business! I wish all States would install these fences along the freeways! It would save a lot of lives, 2 AND 4 legged!

We have had a most excellent and relaxing day. We woke up at Kim’s fabulous place in Crestview and went outside to play jility with Kim and her dogs and Suzanne and Sonic. Isabella was in heaven there! I haven’t seen her so happy in a long time! Normally, she has to be bribed with false promises of kitty and/or squirrel sightings to coax her off the sofa to go out. At Kim’s she was up and out the door with no more than a hand on the door. She jumped for joy and barked in delight. When Isabella is happy, I am happy!

After a fun time doing jility, we pulled in the slides, said good-bye and thank you to Kim & Suzanne and headed off to Tallahassee.

It was a pleasant drive and we listened to our XM tunes all the way. With more than 10 stations devoted to Christmas music of every kind, it almost put us in the spirit as I switched bath and forth from Christmas song to Christmas song. Our favorite XM stations include the uncensored comedy channel (a very naughty channel), folk, old time radio, 50’s and our most favorite, the 40’s (we are very old).

We settled into the Big Oak RV Park just north of the city, then loaded the girlz into the car and headed out to meet up with Terry A and Riso. Terry took us to her agility club’s training yard to let the girlz run and play more jility! Riso is a large handsome silver boy and he thought Crushie and Isabella were very cool. After a great time at the agility yard, we followed Terry to her beautiful home on the lake and fed us a WONDERFUL vegan meal. THANKS TERRY!!!! It was absolutely delicious!

The girlz are demanding dinner so off to feed them and settle in for the night.

Tomorrow looks to be a day of lazing around and foosball on the TV.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a night night.
