Snatching Defeat From The Very Jaws of Victory! January 28, 2008

This blogging crap is getting old. I am tired of it now.

We were at an agility trial in Daytona Beach Florida over the weekend. It was an OK trial, not our best. Just a few mistakes on my part kept me from a stellar weekend but Charisse ran well.

MeMe didn’t pick up any double Qs L. Josephine did and now needs only 2 for MACH 3! She was way behind MeMe in the race to MACH but now she has passed her. The turtle wins the race! MeMe still needs 3. Tiny errors kept MeMe from getting more QQs this weekend. They were heartbreakers. She had a knocked bar in one class that prevented the QQ and she bounded off the table on another day. Oh well.

Isabella ran like crap but had a great run on Sunday in JWW but due to my slow old ass, she went in the wrong end of the tunnel so no Q.

So Charisse and I never get multipliers. She has had a couple of seconds in Excellent B but never a first. On Saturday, Mel came back from the score table to tell me Charisse won JWW! I was so excited! Then I remembered Josephine had had a wonderful run so there was no way we beat her. Mel said they screwed up (actually her used a much worse word) her time and had her down as running it in 38 seconds. I told him that was insane. Luckily, we had it on tape so we went to the trial secretary (who has been very nice to us) and told her about the injustice of Charisse beating Josephine! Oh the HUMANITY of it all! So she went to the timer and looked at the tape. She found her time and sure enough, they had transcribed it wrong. It was actually 28 and not 38. So, for a fleeting moment, Charisse and I had our moment in the sun but once more, we snatched defeat from the very jaws of victory. It was fine though because Poodles were 1st and 2nd on that Jumper run and the next day in standard Poodles were 1st, 2nd & 3rd in 24” standard! That was fun!

We were supposed to stay at a private home here in Stuart, FL but the Global Warmer was too damn big. Mel spent an hour pruning bushes to prevent GW scratches but it wasn’t meant to be. By the time he listened to me and decided he couldn’t fit, it was too late to find an RV park. Everything was closed for the night. Luckily, the home owner had a friend down the street who let us stay there for the night. Now we are waiting for a call back from an RV park to see if they have room for us. We are homeless at the moment L. Very sad.

The Girlz did get to run this morning and that made them very happy indeed.
