Charisse MX, MXJ & MACH MiniMe  Training Progress
Charisse was trained to weave using channels and MeMe was trained with Susan Garrett's 2x2
method. MeMe started training months after Charisse yet she has a better understanding of her
job and took less time to train. They are about the same speed with MiniMe being a couple
tenths of a second faster than Charisse.
Charisse, however, is faster on the teeter but started out very very fearful! I couldn't even bang
it with her in the vicinity and she would freak. We used the buja board, slam it game, bang it
game, then run to the end and feed and lower. Then we lowered the teeter nearly to the ground
and progressed higher when they were confident at each level and still had them coming around
our hip to do the end behavior as well.

Charisse MX, MXJ & MACH MiniMe  Competition Runs

Charisse and MeMe had NEVER EVER run a full course before their first competition! We
normally
just do a few (sometimes just one!) obstacles and reward with a tug or a toy or ball so putting a
whole course together was a new experience for both of them. They picked up the idea in their
second trial much better than their first. They will get faster yet when they really understand the
BIG JILITY game!
Charisse MX, MXJ                                     MACH MeMe
4-16-06 USDAA Charisse Starter Jumper Q
She ran around the 26" double because she had
never jumped one before and looked hard at the big
triple for the same reason and took an extra step.
Otherwise she was a good girl! She sure loves Big
Jility! You can hear MiniMe barking in the
background throughout the run.
4-23-06 USDAA Charisse Starter Jumper Q
Charisse was great! I told her, "Right! Get in!" at
the end where the tunnel was at a bad angle and she
picked it right up. Many dogs went in the wrong
end of the tunnel. At the end of the run, Charisse is
looking for her reward tennis ball. She knows it
MUST be there someplace!
5-14-06 AKC Charisse JWW Q
This was her second AKC JWW Q. It was NOT
pretty but good enough for a Q and first place
LOL. She gets her weave entries every time at
home but is just too high at trials to see them and
collect herself.
5-20-06 AKC Charisse Novice JWW Q
This was Charisse's Novice Title and first place.
She is still struggling to hit weave entries her first try.
She gets them all at home (of course!).
6-25-06 AKC Open JWW
This wasn't a smooth run but good enough for her
Open JWW totle and first place. She is strugling still
getting her weave entries at trials. She is great at
home. She will figure it out.
7-22-06 AKC EX JWW
Charisse picked up her first Ex jumper leg on this
run. We had some terribly wide places but we are
working it out. I got way behind before the
serpentine and got in her way :( then I had to push
her line and I try hard never to do that. We nearly
colided. Poor Charisse is terribly handler challenged!
She is now going on nicely and has stopped her
spinning but we need to find the balance between
distance and close work. THAT takes a lot of work
to train!
7-22-06 Novice AKC Standard
This was Charisse's first ever standard run! I train
an automatic down on the table and really haven't
spent much time training sit. She gets confused and
doesn't think she should sit. Finally she does. We
lost a lot of time on that and there were some very
wide places where she thought we were going some
other place. It was still good enough for a win and
with the wides places, the table delay and holding
contacts for a very long time, she won and was
about 25 seconds under sct!
8-27-06 USDAA Starter Jumper
This was good enough for first place. She stumbled
when she slipped on the slippery dry grass.
9-30-06 AKC Excellent Standard leg 2 1st place
Charisse is going through standard at a good clip.
She needs one more leg for her AX. Her dog walk
is a lot slower than I would like but we are working
on that.
The lead out.
We have been working on a lead out with multiple
changes of arms. Here is a video of the first time I
tried it in competition with Charisse.
12-3-06 Excellent JWW
We need to work on tightening up our turns!
4-16-06 USDAA MiniMe Starter Jumper Q
MeMe got confused the second time around the loop
and wasn't sure where Mel was taking her and really
gave him hell! It was still a Q and she loved finally
doing her very first BIG JILITY! Isn't she the cutest?
4-23-06 USDAA MiniMe Starter Jumper Q
MeMe knew what to do this time. Mel didn't push her
very hard but she was still 5.6 yps! Not bad for a little
dog with no hip joint in one leg!!! We were very
proud of her. Although not a serious dog by nature,
MiniMe takes her jility VERY VERY seriously. I love
how she justs sits so quietly, then explodes into her
run. It took TONS of rewarding to get that!
4-29-06 AKC Novice P JWW Q & 1st Place!
This was MiniMe's first AKC run ever. She and Mel
did a great job! She had the fastest time of any dog in
Novice at any height or division. Her run was over 5
yps. Not bad for a boneless Poodle!
4-30-06 AKC Novice P JWW Q & 1st Place!
MeMe was again awesome (If I do say so myself:).
She is sure nailing those weave entries!
5-14-06 AKC Standard Novice B. Q & 1st Place!
This was MeMe's first standard Q. We only entered
her in JWW to start and she finished that title in three
straight runs. It took her three runs to finallly Q in
Standard but it was a good one. Her time was 38
seconds on a 64 second course with Mel holding her
on the teeter and the DW. Her table was slow today
too but is usually great!
You will notice the jiggling at the end and the barking.
I was holding Josephine and she jumped the ring rope
and went into the ring after Mel & MeMe. She high
centered and I had to lift her off the rope. It was very
funny.
5-21-06 AKC MeMe Open JWW Q 1st place!
MeMe really loves this jility stuff!
6-11-06 USDAA P1 Jumper Title
MiniMe was really moving. She ran 6 yps on this run!
it is hard to believe she has no hip joint in her right leg!
7-22-06 AKC JWW Ex. Leg #2
MeMe was moving right along in this run. Charisse
was second and MeMe was third (by 8/10ths of a
second ;) You can hear Charisse going crazy in the
background!
7-23-06 AKC JWW AXJ title!!!
MeMe won, earned her AXJ title and ran this in an
amazing 5.87 yps! It is hard to believe she has no
femoral head in her right hind leg!
3-02-07 AKC JWW MXJ Title!!!
This was in Scottsdale, AZ. MeMe is really starting to
understand the game very well!
3-24-07 AKC EX Standard
This was MeMe's first Excellent standard leg. Mel
was late on his serpentine cue before the teeter so she
really gave him hell!!! She is SO CUTE!
She won the class too  :)
6-1-07 AKC JWW 1st QQ!
This was the second half of MiniMe's first double Q!
Charisse also got her first double Q today but no
video :(
MeMe ran a very respectable 5.3 yps!
Charisse DW
5-3-06
Charisse's DW is coming along nicely but she is
missing the up contact by a mile so we need to work
on that
.

Charisse Teeter
5-3-06
Getting better!

Charisse A-frame
5-3-06
Charisse is just starting to learn the A-frame. She is
slower when I am behind. I am always going to be
behind so I better get her faster!
MeMe DW
5-3-06
MeMe had a great DW when it was a running
DW but we switched to a stop and now she is
slowing at the end.

MeMe Teeter
5-3-06
She is getting there!
